Nigerian student bags 3 years jail term in North Cyprus
A Nigerian student who was arrested for drug crime last month has been given a combined prison sentence of three years.
The defendant, C.O who was accused of keeping and selling different types of drugs will serve a jail term of three years after he was found guilty of drug crimes in a Girne court on Thursday.
Police said he was found with several quantities of drugs between March and April 2017, and was charged with taking and keeping "Synthetic Cannabinoid Type drug.
Delivering his judgement, the court judge said it is absolutely unacceptable for a person in the country to do drug trafficking for educational purposes, after the defendant had told the court that he sells the drugs in his possession for the purpose of making money and paying university expenses.

The defendant was then sentenced to 8 months on charges of "Taking and Saving Unlawful Drugs of Synthetic Cannabinoid Type" and 10 months for the offense of "Synthetic Cannabinoid Type Illegal Drug Delivery" on all charges and 18 months' imprisonment for the crime of "taking and saving illegal type of illegal drugs".
