Man jumps through window to escape police and broke his two legs
One of 5 young men who tried to escape from narcotics police following a raid at his apartment in Famagusta for drug related crime has been hospitalized after injuring himself when he tried to jump from the window of the apartment.
Police raided an apartment block in Famagusta on Thursday following a notice and arrested 2 women and 5 young men for drug offenses.
One of the suspect then tried to escape the police by jumping through the window of the second floor apartment breaking his two legs in the process.
He was taken to the Famagusta hospital for treatment and then brought to court in an ambulance along with the other suspects on charges of "taking illegal drugs", "giving illegal drugs" and "saving illegal drugs".
Police in a report said about 5.5 grams believed to be Indian hem type of drug wrapped in separate papers were found in the trouser of one of the suspects.
Police said the suspects had tried to get rid of the drug substance before they were caught with force.
One of the suspect was released after it was found that she was a guest in the apartment and had no link to the crime.
The courted ordered the suspects to remain in police custody for three days while the injured was kept under observation in Famagusta State Hospital.
