Killers of Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede brought to court, final judgment expected next week
Justice for murdered Nigerian student, Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede is almost at hand as the five students accused for murdering him appear in court today after they last appeared in court on Friday last week.
Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede, 28, an Architecture student at the Eastern Mediterranean University , EMU, in Famagusta was kidnapped and beaten by 7 people on Monday, January, 29 and then taken to the Çanakkale lake where he was seriously beaten, killed and abandoned.
Following his murder, seven suspects namely; Ozan Korkurt, 18, Zekeriya Kurucu, 22, Burcu Çelik, 16, Onur Körkurt, 21, Simge Dağdur, 17, Aydan Sel and Nidai Şanlı, 28 were arraigned before a Famagusta court on charges of murder, human abduction and serious assault.
They were later sent to prison for three months in March until June 8.
Investigation by police revealed that he was killed by the gang over 1000 Turkish Lira debt.
They were re-arraigned before a Famagusta court on Friday. The court judge evaluated the case brought before the court and demanded for a period of time to deliberate on it.
Court proceeding was adjourned till Friday June, 22.
Nidai Şanlı, who was alleged to be at the centre of the murder was brought to court with a separate vehicle from other suspects.
It is likely that Nidai Sanli, will be accused of the crime for which life imprisonment is required.
