Greeks Cypriots living in England against direct flight to Ercan Airport

The British National Cypriot Federation has reportedly reacted to the news that British MP Iain Duncan Smith made a statement that Britain supported the request for direct flights to Ercan Airport in North Cyprus.

According to the Harvig newspaper, President of the Federation, Hristos Karaolis explained that "at this critical time, where efforts should focus on restarting negotiations for an independent, unified Cyprus, they felt a great disappointment as a few people in the British Parliament introduced such an issue".

Karaolis emphasized that the British Government and the Court of Cassation had made it clear that the Chicago Agreement would be violated by direct flight to Ercan Airport, emphasizing that "those who want to fly directly to Cyprus can use their legitimate airports".
