Church service held in Lefkoniko, North Cyprus for first time in 44 years
The Archangel Michael church in Lefkoniko, North Cyprus has held it's first service for the first time in 44 years on Sunday with hundreds of people in attendance.
The service in the fully renovated church was led by Bishop Vasilios of Famagusta, who expressed his joy at another historic church being used and expressed the hope that others would follow.
Members of the congregation were taken to the church on six buses and in tens of private cars.
With its newly frescoed walls, the church was handed over to the bishopric in October 2017 by the bicommunal committee for cultural heritage.
