5 Pakistanis arrested for illegally residing in the TRNC
Five Pakistani citizen has been arrested by police in Famagusta for illegally residing in the country.
The Dörtyol police arrested a man who had helped four other people who are all Pakistani citizens by housing them in his apartment in Akdoğan without a resident permit.
They were identified by the police as Salem Masih, Ashar Masih, Ghulam Abbas, Arshad Ali and Turkish citizen Cemal Demir.
The five of them were found not to have legal status in the country. They were all taken to the Famagusta court on Monday on charges of "unauthorized residency in the TRNC" and "working without work permit".
Two of the suspects Salem Masih and Ghulam Abbas voluntarily testified and gave statements.
The court ordered them to remain in police detention for three days pending investigation.
