Woman who stabbed son to death to stay in prison for three days

Woman who stabbed 7-year-old son to death on Sunday night in Gonyeli has been sent to prison for three days pending investigation.

Bilge Lord Kunduraci, 36, was taken to a Lefkosa ‘court’ on Tuesday 26 under tight security measures after admitting to ‘police’ that she stabbed her son to death 17 times over the weekend.

According to Turkish Cypriot reports carried by the Cyprus News Agency, Kunduraci stabbed her son while he slept on the night of May 26 in their Kioneli apartment. The next morning, when she realised he hadn’t died, she stabbed him again.

On the night of May 27 when she realised her son had actually died she tried to end her own life.

Kunduraci is reportedly separated from her husband who works for the ‘police’ and the two were in the midst of getting a divorce.

She had apparently seen something he posted on social media – though it was not immediately clear what it was – that angered her and led to her ending her son’s life and then trying to end her own.

Kunduraci’s parents arrived to the flat and opened it with their own key. Her father, after witnessing the sight suffered a heart attack and despite efforts at the hospital in northern Nicosia, died.

Her mother is also in the hospital under close observation.
The boy’s father was also in shock, reports said.

Kibris Postasi said Kunduraci was calm and collected in court where details of the murder were heard. She first stabbed her son and then slit her wrists and various parts of her body on Saturday night.

The next morning when she realised her son hadn’t died, she used another knife to stab him in the stomach and chest and self-harmed anew before falling unconscious.

The court heard Kunduraci had been by her son’s side for at least 24-hours. The family circle found out about the incident when Kunduraci messaged her partner’s colleagues to tell him what happened, prompting her parents arrival.

The woman who works in a marketing firm in Gonyeli did not go to work on Monday and instead called to say "my son is sick."

Also she called the son's school to and said "my son will not come to school today".
