Cameroon woman arrested for entering the TRNC using a fake German passport
According to police report, the suspect, a Cameroonian was carrying a German passport issued on behalf of someone else with a 90-day visa and false declaration had entered the country from the Ercan Airport on May 17, 2018, and was arrested on 18 May 2018 when she attempted to leave with the same passport at Ercan Airport.
She was taken to a Lefkosa court on Saturday on charges of "crime against someone else's identity" and "registration of fraudulent behavior" crimes.
According to police investigation, the suspect had first entered the TRNC on February 13, 2018 with her real name at the time and then entered South Cyprus from the Metehan Border Gate with the German passport before returning to the TRNC with the same passport.
Police said they will investigate how the passport was made using camera images.
The suspect was ordered by the court to remain in police custody for two days while investigation continues.
