Two Sudanese arrested in Lefkosa for drugs and smuggling
Two Sudanese have been arrested by the North Cyprus immigration at the Metehan Kara border gate between north and south Cyprus as they tried to smuggled themselves and drug into the country in the trunk of a car.
According to police report, drugs were found in the trunk of the car used by the suspect during immigration procedures as they tried to cross into the country at the Metehan Kara border gate on Thursday night.
One of the suspects identified as Mohamed Elrofia, a 25-year-old Sudanese national, a driver of the vehicle used was arrested by police of the Directorate of Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention following a search on his car.
Another suspect, Mohammed Jamel Yosif Khidir, a 20-year-old Sudanese student who was trying to illegally enter the country in the trunk of the car used by Elrofai, was also arrested.
Police said 45 grams of hintekiri type drug was seized from the suspects.
They were arrested and taken to the Lefkosa court on Friday where they were ordered to remain in police custody for three days for investigation purposes.
