Two men, a Syrian and an Indian arrested by soldiers for entering the TRNC illegally

Two men, a Syrian and an Indian national were on Sunday arrested by soldiers and taken to a Lefkosa military court after they tried to escape from south Cyprus illegally into north Cyprus by a boat.

According to report, the suspects identified as Yassir Azzo and Gurpreet Singh, were brought into the country by boat by human traffickers to live illegally in the country and were caught red-handed by soldiers on duty in the region as they were trying to escape from south Cyprus by illegal routes.

According to police, they had hoped to bypass the military forbidden area of the city and pass through Cyprus.

They confessed that they were brought to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from a port and did not know they were illegal in the country.

The suspects were taken to a military Court on Sunday where they were ordered to remain in police custody for one day for investigative purpose.
