TRNC set dates for local elections

The 24^th of June has been set as the date the local elections will take place in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

On the 27^th of April the Council of Ministers convened and took a decision towards this end.
The decision has been published in the official gazette.

The draft resolution that has been handed down by the Council of Ministers will be taken up at the plenary session of parliament.

Once the parliament approves the draft resolution it will come into effect.

Meanwhile the election bans will come into force on Tuesday the 15^th of May.
