Student arrested in Guzelyurt for raping, recording and torturing girlfriend
An Azerbaijani student has been arrested by the TRNC police in Guzelyurt for raping his girlfriend and also recording the incident on his cell phone and then threatened her with the images.
According to report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Havadis, the suspect identified as Tahir Asadov had deceitfully invited his girlfriend to his house at Doganci, Guzelyurt on April 28 where he forcefully raped her and recorded the incident on his mobile phone despite the fact that the girl does not want to be with him.
He is said to have tortured the girl, identified as a 19-year-old Kazakhstan national and threatened her with the recorded images if she refuses to come back to him.
The suspect was also accused of beating the young woman with his hands and legs and also burned her with a cigarette in the arm.
He was arrested on charges of "sexual assault", "violation of right to private life", "violence threat", and "serious assault" on Saturday following a complain by the victim.
According to police report, the suspect accepted the crime and confessed during interrogation.
He was taken to a Güzelyurt court on Sunday where he was ordered by the court to remain in police custody for three days pending investigation.
The suspect and the victim are students in a university in Guzelyurt.
