Student arrested for using fake house agreement in Lefkosa

Another student has been arrested on the grounds of submitting a fake rental agreement to the TRNC tax office.

According to police report, the student, an African, identified as I.M, 29 was arrested on Monday May, 29 at the tax office when he attempted to use the document to obtain a resident permit.

He was taken to court a Lefkosa court on Wednesday on charges of "stealing documents and using false documents.

The accused who is a third year student in one of the universities in Lefkosa is said to have added his name to a rental agreement issued in 2017.

The accused told the court that the document was given to him by an estate agent and was not aware that the contract agreement was fake.

He was released on a bail deposit of 5,000Tl and ordered not to leave the country until his trial. He was also ordered to report to the police at least once a week.
