Stoke relegated after defeat to Crystal Palace

Stoke's 10-year stay in the Premier League has come to an end after they were relegated to the Championship on Saturday after their dismal season culminated in them giving up a first-half lead against Crystal Palace before succumbing to a 2-1 defeat.

Manager Paul Lambert - appointed in January to turn the Potters around but couldn't do anything to save the potters from relegation and became the first team to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Paul Lambert's side went into the crunch lunchtime clash at a sunny bet365 Stadium needing to win to have any realistic chance of survival and took the lead in the first half through Xherdan Shaqiri's deflected 43rd- minute 25-yard free-kick

But Paul Lambert’s ailing side, who have not won in 13 league matches, went down to a late Patrick van Aanholt goal.
Then, as Palace piled on the pressure, Van Aanholt struck four minutes from time as Stoke’s worst run in the top flight for 34 years continued and Roy Hodgson’s Palace could celebrate another year of Premier League football.
