Real Madrid win 2017/2018 Champions League

Real Madrid has won the 2017/2018 Champions League, after defeating Liverpool 3-1in the finals on Saturday evening in Kiev, besting their record of becoming the first side to lift the trophy on three consecutive seasons.

This will be Real Madrid's 13th time overall win and deny Liverpool a sixth crown in their first final since 2007 after last winning it in the memorable 2005 final.

Loris Karius's calamitous error allowed Karim Benzema to open the scoring, before Sadio Mane equalized only four minutes later. But Gareth Bale produced a moment of genius to put Real back in front, leaping high to send an overhead kick into the Liverpool net that may have been the finest ever finish in a final but his chance of hogging the headlines were ruined by another calamitous error from Karius who let a Bale strike through his hands to make it 3-1 and end Liverpool's hopes of a sixth European crown.

Earlier, Liverpool were dealt an early blow when Mo Salah was forced off with a shoulder injury following a challenge from Sergio Ramos.

It is also the second time Real have won three European Cups in a row, having gone on to win five in succession from 1956, and only the fourth time it has happened in 63 years.

Congrats to Real Madrid
