No Amnesty by TRNC government this year

The North Cyprus government will not be rolling out amnesty programs for foreign nationals including students and workers in the country who have overstayed their permit and living illegally in the country.

According to a government source who confided in us, the TRNC government have no plans to issue an amnesty program in 2018.

From reports we gathered, the government will begin a crack down on illegal residents in the country as new laws on residency will be introduced.

In the past, the North Cyprus Ministry of Interior Affairs usually approves amnesty package every year for those fined for illegal residence and those under sanction status abroad. In this case, those that have migrated and are working without work permit benefit from the Amnesty by paying a specific fee lower than the actual fine.

The TRNC government in January 2017 announced an amnesty program for illegal immigrants and workers in the country which it said will be the last one to be issued by the ministry of Interior Affairs.

We advised students and all foreign workers in the country to try and update their residence status with the government.
