Nine men including students arrested in Girne for selling women into prostitution

Nine people, seven of which are students were on Friday arrested in Girne for allegedly selling two women to men for prostitution.

According to report by Turkish Cypriot newspaper, Havadis, the nine men were arrested in Girne of which 7 were alleged to be university students.

They were said to have sold the two women aged between 22 and 23 to men.

The suspects were identified as Z.T, G.T, E.Ç., S.T, B.B, Z.K, N.S, M.K and C.A. They were also taken to a Girne court on same day.

The suspects allegedly committed the crime between March and May 2018 in Girne.

One of the suspect, Z.K, 23 is said to have presented a 22 years old S.Ö. to a man for sexual relationship in a casino in exchange for money.

The customers according to report are tourists from Turkey.

Two other suspects M.K and N.S were accused of selling the women to men at a price of 300 TL and 600 TL for the full day.

The court granted all the suspects bail with a cash deposit of  3,000 TL and a guarantor for each suspect.

They were all ordered to report to the police station at least three days a week.
