Nine Greek Cypriot briefly detained by Turkish Cypriot authorities
Turkish Cypriot authorities on Tuesday briefly detained nine people in Famagusta, ahead of MEP fact-finding mission.
They were detained, on a Famagusta beach, in the Turkish North part of Cyprus.
The incident, involving eight Greek Cypriots and one British national, occurred just before a planned visit by a European Parliament delegation to the Famagusta beach, bordering the fenced off part of Varosha.
Greek Cypriots had gathered in the area holding banners as MEPs were due to arrive there.
