Near East university system failed their student who was in need of medical attention, student say adding that they don't care about their students

It's been almost one month now since Zimbabwean student, Mgcini Muzu Muyo passed away at a public hospital in North Cyprus following a battle with diabetes but not much has been heard about the situation surrounding the death.

Mgcini Muzu Muyo, 22, a fourth-year student of the Banking and Finance Department of the Near East University (YDU) who died on April 14, was diagnosed with diabetes and was being treated at the intensive care unit of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa before his death.

An autopsy to determine the cause of his death is yet to be released by the authorities but it seems there was a situation that played out during and after the incident which the public are not aware of.

An anonymous source contacted Olomoinfo Blog this week to narrate what is described as an act of negligence on the part of the Near East university during and after the incident that lead to Muyo's death.

According to the source who is a Zimbabwean student studying at the Near East University, Muyo was denied full treatment at the near university hospital even when he was an active student of the university.

The source who is trying to create an awareness to the public that the university doesn't care for their own students also revealed how the university had refused to released some funds it promised to help take the body back home to Zimbabwe for burial.

Here is what happened according to the source;

On April 14th 2018, a Zimbabwean male student who was also learning at Near East University for 4 years died because he was denied full treatment at Near East Hospital, in the previous evening, even though it was later discovered he was an active student. Their systems at Near East hospital failed a student, one of their own students, a patient in need of medical attention. He later on died at Dr Burhan Hastane later that day where he was sent to get further treatment. Culturally as Zimbabweans, a burial must be held on ancestral ground which is why I had been trying to get all the paperwork for the late student so he could go back home and be buried there. For 3 weeks I worked with the offices that care for the well being of students only for their bosses(Top management) to deny their late student a burial he deserves. With the cash crisis in Zimbabwe, his family has had to raise all the money required to bring him back home. Top management promised 5000tl of the total cost 15000tl to transport him back home but they spat in the deceased family and did not fulfill that promise. It has been over 3 weeks and the infamous Near East University is holding back 5000tl. In my opinion I would rather learn at Cyprus International University where they actually care for their own students, should they die. You will not be denied health nor a right to burial I’m writing this to bring awareness to the community that Near East University is a school that does not care for their own students if they die.
