Man arrested with drugs at a Lefkosa border gate

The TRNC narcotics police has arrested one Barış Akartürk, while entering the country from the Lefkosa Lokmaci border gate with drugs taken from sout Cyprus for 50 euros.

The suspect Baris Akartürk, who was arrested on Saturday due to his suspicious attitudes while attempting to enter the country with the drug in his possession, was taken to a Lefkosa court on Monday.

Police in a report say the suspect was found with a substance weighing about 3 grams which was believed to be a kind of jailed drug wrapped in white paper in his pocket.

Police said the suspect had voluntarily given evidence and accepted the crime on the matter. The suspect confessed he took the drugs for 50 Euros.

He was ordered by the court to remain in police custody for three days pending investigation.
