Elderly British woman drowns in Dipkarpaz beach

An 80-year-old British citizen who is a tourist in the island, was found dead in the sea about 15 meters from the beach in Dipkarpaz on Monday. 

According to police report, the woman identified as Auriol Novis Mayo, was found at the beach at about 1:40 pm on Monday.

Police report say she lost her balance while in the sea and probably drowned in the water and lost her life at the scene.

Citizens tried to intervene but could not save her.

Police investigation is ongoing.
