15-year-old boy detained for raping 10-year-old in Lefkosa

A 15-year-old boy was on Tuesday arrested and taken to court for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in a garage in Lefkosa.

According to police report, the incident that caused uproar in the area, happened on Monday.

The boy identified only as E.B is said to have lured the girl to the garage after telling her he wanted to show her something.

The boy then flee after the girl started crying. The victim was immediately taken away from the garage and taken to the hospital where she was found to have been sexually assaulted following an investigation by a doctor.

The boy was later arrested after he was identified from safety camera footage and taken to the Lefkosa Juvenile court on charges of  "sexual assault" and "sexual abuse".

He accepted his crime and gave voluntary testimony, police said.

His parents were absent in court report Turkish Cypriot daily, Havadis.
 

The suspect was ordered to remain in police custody for three days taking into account the gravity of the crime while investigation continues.
