The two students identified as Lara Bırkdar, 21, a Syrian and Jennet Jumanyyazova, 25, a Turkmenistan were arrested at their Girne apartment at Hasan Tahsin Street and charged to court for "taking drugs and illegal drug possession."
According to police report, a search was carried out on the suspects following a tip off and several kinds of drugs seized from them.
Police say Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), one of the most dangerous synthetic and hallucinogenic drugs in the country, was seized from the suspects.
The LSD type drug contains a substance called hallucinogen, which causes the appearance of objects that do not actually exist but are thought to be perceived by the individual.
Police say pieces of scrap paper and a metal grinder, believed to contain 30 grams of Indian Cannabis, one pill, 10 LSD type drugs were also seized from the suspects.
Police say the suspects voluntarily testified during an initial interrogation and were arraigned in a Girne court on Saturday where they were sent to prison for three days as investigation continues.
