Student arrested for drugs in Girne

A university student was on Saturday arrested in Girne for drugs after police noticed his suspicious movement.

The TRNC Narcotics police said it was patrolling the streets of Girne when they noticed the suspicious movement of the 19-year-old university student on the sidewalk of the Hasan Tahsin road at about 12:15 am on Saturday night.

A search was carried out on him and 10 grams of Hintekin kind drug was found on the suspect. Police said they also found two wrapped foil papers, a 2-gram tincture of narcotics, and a cigarette with mixed tobacco.

Police said they followed the suspect to his house and following a search on his apartment, 8 grams of Hintekevi wrapped in 8 different foil papers were found.

He was arrested and taken to the Girne Criminal Court on Saturday where he was ordered to remain in police custody for three days while investigation continues.
