Dense fog forced two flights to return to Turkey as they were unable to land at Ercan

Two flights arriving Ercan Airport from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Atatürk airport respectively, were unable to land after midnight on Sunday due to extremely poor visibility.

Due to the dense fog around Ercan, the two flights were forced to return to the mainland and wait until conditions improved sufficiently.

The Sabiha Gökçen-Ercan PGT 1898 flight made two attempts to land at Ercan but was forced to return to Antalya and wait. It eventually landed at Ercan at 04.19 on Monday.
A second flight THY 964 from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Ercan was not able to land safely at Ercan and was re-directed to Antalya at 01.45. After waiting for improved conditions, it landed at Ercan at 06.19 on Monday morning.

Meteorology Department Director Raif İlker Buran said that fog would continue to appear on Monday night.
