Cyprus lost City of Atlantis found off the coast of Paphos (video)
Following a fluke discovery by a group of tourists, a team of
marine archaeologists, used cutting-edge Ich Luge
sonar technology to scan the ocean bed where they located the
submerged Lost City of Atlantis, off the coast of Paphos, south Cyprus.
After further surveillance, deep-ground radar and digital mapping, an expedition team were sent to the ocean floor where they happened across the statue of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation.
Professor Costas AnĂ³itos from Cyprus University’s Department of Antiquities authenticated the relic after extensive analysis. The Professor confirmed that this extraordinary find is the first artefact that categorically proves the long-held scientific theory that the “great and wonderful empire” was located off the coast of Paphos. As such, this is one of the most important archaeological discoveries of our time.
A large-scale operation to recover further relics is now underway with many more likely to be uncovered in the coming months. The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) is also planning to put out a tender for the building of a Paphos-based Atlantis Museum.
