3 People including 2 Libyan students arrested for drugs at the Metehan Border Gate
Three people including two Libyan students have been arrested by the narcotics police after they were found with about 310 grams of drugs at the Metehan Border Gate with south Cyprus on Saturday.
The suspects were brought before a Lefkosa court on Saturday on charges of illegal drugs importation, saving, receiving and giving illegal drugs."
According to police report, the narcotics team carried out a search on a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old man named E.S Zemlilar of North Cyprus origin at the Metehan Kara Border Gate with south Cyprus and found 310 grams of hijackery-type drugs was found hidden in the trunk of the vehicle.
The suspect E.S Zemlilar confessed to receiving the drug substance for MEK and ARMEK both of Libyan origin one of who resides in Famagusta.
One of the suspects, E.S Ramiz also, on December 7, 2017, aided the transfer of drug by two people who are currently in jail after they were caught with importing 15 grams of herbal drugs through the Metehan Kara Border Gate.
They were ordered by the court to remain in custody for three days in order to allow investigation to be conducted.
