Restrictions on the Girne-Degirmenlik mountain road to end on Tuesday

The restrictions placed on the use of the Girne-Değirmenlik Road (mountain road) will be lifted on Tuesday, said the North Cyprus Minister of Transport Tolga Atakan.

The ban was put in place because of road works which will be completed before the projected end date.

On Monday 5 March, restrictions were introduced prohibiting vehicles carrying less than nine passengers from using the road between 9am and 7pm. Heavy vehicles were banned from using the road between 7pm and 9am.

The travel ban will end on Tuesday, 13 March.

The minister added that the roadworks on the Kyrenia-Nicosia dual carriageway were expected to be completed before the three month deadline.
