North Cyprus police warns of fake Euro and Dollars in circulation, arrest two

Two people have been arrested in a Girne casino after they were caught with fake 500 Euros and 100 US Dollars following which the police issued a public warning about the circulation of fake foreign currencies.

According to report by the police Directorate, the counterfeit currencies may have entered the public market. It warned the public to be careful and requested that anyone found with such currencies should be reported to the nearest police station.

The serial numbers of fake Euro notes are, "X03602148275, X03602154683, X03602146097, X00951744359"; while that of the 100 USD is  KB47431466QB2".

The two suspects identified as FS, 34 and DK, 40, who were customers in a casino operating in Girne on Tuesday said they brought the fake notes for the purpose of gambling.

They surrendered the fake notes of 500 Euros (three) and 100 Dollars (one) to the police following which they were arrested.

Banks, foreign exchange companies, financial institutions, supermarkets, citizens, people who do exchange business are warned to be careful.
