New practice to restrict trucks and cars on mountain road starts today

The restrictions imposed on the use of the Degirmenlik-Çatalköy main road, known as the "mountain road", by the decision of the TRNC Highways Department, will take effect from today.

Police officers will be working on the Degirmenlik - Çatalköy (Degirmenlik mountain road), to restrict heavy duty vehicles weighing five thousand kilograms from using the road between 7:00pm to 9:00am and vehicles carrying more than 9 passengers between 9:00am to7:00pm.

The decision was taken by the Directorate of Highways in regard to traffic safety and public order.

Police in a statement, requested all drivers to comply with the rules as police control and patrols presence on the specified route will be increased.
