Late Nigerian student, Hassan Babatunde laid to rest at the Near East cemetery in Lefkosa.

Nigerian student, Hassan Babatunde who drowned at the Alagadi beach in Girne on Wednesday afternoon have been laid to rest at the Near East cemetery in Lefkosa.

The burial was attended by friends, and student representatives of the Nigerian student community in Cyprus on Friday.
The Nigerian student community in Cyprus was thrown into mourning on Wednesday when news about his death broke out.

Hassan Babatunde, 24 was in the company of some friends at the beach when the unfortunate incident happened.

According to report, he drown due to a heavy sea wave at about 3:30pm and was about 15 meters away from the sea shore at the time.

Despite an intervention by his friends, Hassan gave up two hours later at a hospital in Girne.

The Cyprus International University, where he was registered as a student issued a condolence message to his family and friends.

   
Hassan was a former student at the Near East University before completing a switch to the Cyprus International University.

May his soul rest in peace.
