Filling stations banned from selling alcohol in North Cyprus
The North Cyprus Ministry of Interior has banned the sale of alcoholic beverages at gas stations in the country.
Authorities say they made the decision based on the fact that drivers who go filling station to buy fuel and see these beverages displayed at the filling station mini marts are encouraged to drink while driving.
The Traffic Accident Prevention Association was particularly pleased with the ban.
The decision has however lead to a great deal of reaction from the public, especially by filling station operators.
Also, licenses for operators of mini mart at gas filling station will not be renewed.
