26-year-old Nigerian student found dead in Girne apartment on Tuesday night.
The true cause of his death was yet to be ascertained at the time of this report but report reaching us say he may have died of drug over dose
The student whose identity we can not reveal for family reason was found dead by the police in his apartment in Girne at 11:00pm on Tuesday night.
His body was taken to the Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa for examination and from there a body sample will be taken to Turkey where an autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of his death.
Earlier in the year, he was arrested for drug related offense but was released following the intervention of a Turkish Cypriot lawyer.
Before his death, he was a Banking and Finance student at the Girne American University, (GAU), Girne.
His death makes him the third Nigerian to have died in the island since the beginning of 2018.
In January, the Nigerian student community in Cyprus was thrown into mourning when Kennedy Dede was kidnapped and murdered by seven people who are currently in police detention and facing trial for murder and on March 14, when another Nigerian student Hassan Babatunde reportedly drowned at the Alagadi beach in Girne.
This is so sad.
