23-year-old student sentenced to 20 months in prison for recording sexual intercourse with girlfriend.

A 23-year-old university student has been sentenced to 20 months in prison by a Girne court for recording sexual intercourse with his girlfriend.

The accused, Aykut Dönmez reportedly committed the crime in September, 2017 and was arrested and charged for "violating the right to privacy and private life."

The accused was sent to prison for 3 months pending trial.

Gathering report, Olomoinfo Blog could report that the accused committed the crime with a 25-year-old woman in a hotel room in Girne.

Olomoinfo Blog also gathered that the suspect had sex with his victim identified as H.K who was drunk at the time due to excessive alcohol. He then recorded his sexual relationship with the victim on his mobile phone without the her consciousness.

During the course of his trial, the complaint, (his girlfriend) had withdrew her complaint but the court turned down her request and proceeded with the trial.

The right to privacy and private life is protected under the TRNC Constitution for Human Rights.
