19-year-old Libyan student arrested at Ercan airport for drug
A 19-year-old Libyan student was arrested at the Ercan airport on Tuesday after he was caught with drug upon arrival in the country.
The suspect identified as B.S.S.A and studying in one of the universities in the country was caught with 136 drugs in Ercan Airport at about 11:00pm on Tuesday.
The suspect was detected by a narcotics dog's reaction.
Upon interrogation by the police, the suspect said he did not have a baggage but he was followed following which a second search was made after he received a red suitcase.
About 136 drugs in a box of chocolates were found in the suitcase. Police say the suspect was residing in Gönyeli.
He was arrested on charges of "importing and saving illegal drugs" and taken to the Lefkosa Accident Court on Wednesday morning.
The suspect was ordered to remain in custody for two days in order for the investigation to be conducted.
