Which Way Nigeria? We have never had it this bad, corruption and the northern antidote.
How did we get in this mess, was the first thing i asked
myself before writing this article. Did I really raise my voice to campaign
for this man called president of Nigeria, did I really ask friends and foes
alike to vote President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015?. I had spoken glowing tribute
about the uprightness of the former military head of state and told all I came
in contact with that this man was without blemish and was the right man to boot
out corruption which was a major factor in the failed system of Nigeria. PMB was
presented to us as the long awaited Messiah to rescue the sinking ship called Nigeria.
Fast forward to reality, President Muhammadu Buhari can be
labelled the worst democratically elected president Nigeria has ever had, and still
retains the tag of the most tribal and religious fanatic to have been in the helm
of affairs in this country. How did we get here?
The president won on the
pretense of wanting to fight corruption, install rule of law and stop financial
embezzlement but sincerely the opposite is the case. PMB has failed to even
purge his own allies of the epidermic of corruption, he has shown that only
those that opposes his leadership style can be tagged corrupt, and been in his political party is a cleansing rites
and a shelter from persecution.
First it was the then secretary to the federation that was
indicted of corruption under the president's nose, it took public outcry and
outrage to get the so called anti corrupt president to sack his northern
brother after over six months. Mr Lawal was left as the SGF even after the
panel presided over by the vice president indicted Mr Babachir Lawal of corrupt
practice, and bogus contract he gave to himself for cutting of grass at IDP
camps. I remember Mr Lawal asking reporters " who is the government?
" when he was told he has been removed, and months after Babachir Lawal is
yet to be persecuted and imprisoned.
Then Maina gate was open, the former director of pension was
sacked and declared wanted by EFCC and the Interpol, but to the surprise of most
Nigerians Mr Maina was reinstated into the civil service and was promoted.
Nigerians again had to complain and ridicule the anti corruption stance of Mr
president for Mr Maina to be removed. The Attorney General who is also a
northern was involved in the whole process of reinstating Mr Maina, meeting the
fugitive Maina in Dubai and yet Mr president couldn't sanction the attorney
general, neither did he sanction the other northern cronies who had a hand in
the reinstatement of their northern brother Mr Maina who stole billions of Naira from the pension fund.
Suddenly again! The anti corrupt president reinstate another
indicted northerner who was suspended by the minister of health for scammed training
in the tune of about N919m in the national health insurances scheme. Mr Usman Yusuf who was/is the executive secretary of the national health insurance scheme
was dully suspended by the minister of health prof Isaac Adewole after he was
indicted of corrupt practice, and training scam to the tune of almost a billion Naira by ministerial panel set to investigate the allegations. While on
suspension EFCC reportedly called to ask Mr Usman about the allegations and he
replied f*ck you and f*ck the minister, and yet the saint anti corrupt
president reinstates same man because he is a northerner or what other reason
is been given.
The chief of staff, Mr Abba Kyari has been accused of
wanting to extort the removed director general of the national intelligence
agency to the tune of $2m, and as usual he wouldn't be sacked because he is a
northerner.
We continue to watch as this detail unfolds President Muhammadu Buhari has proven to be a sectional leader, an ethic bigot and a religious
fanatic who lives on pretense, lies and dictatorship.
This administration is
undoubtedly the most corrupt government where only opposition members are tagged
corrupt.
