Ringleader suspect involved in the murder of Nigerian student, Kennedy arrested in south Cyprus

One of the suspects involved in the murder of Nigerian student,  Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede has been arrested and will be brought to a Mugasa court today.

The suspect Nidai Şanlı who is the ringleader of the gang was arrested in south Cyprus on Friday.

He is said to have escaped to Southern Cyprus in a car with the registration number, ED 581 on Tuesday 30 January.

Nidai Şanlı along with six others on Monday, January, 29 kidnapped Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede, from his apartment, beat him and took him to the Çanakkale Pond in the outskirt of the city where he was killed and dumped.

Kennedy was left half naked in the Çanakkale Pond. Following the incident, 6 out of the 7 suspects connected with the murder were and charged to court for murder, human abduction and serious assault.

The other six suspects are Ozan Korkurt, 18, Zekeriya Founder, 22, Burcu Çelik, 16, Onur Körkurt, 21, Simge Dağdur, 28 and Aydan Sel.

They are all in police custody and will appear in court on Friday next week.

Before his death, Kennedy, 28 was an Architecture student at the Eastern Mediterranean University in Magusa.
