North Cyprus International Cycling Tour enters its second day

The 3rd North Cyprus International Cycling Tour has entered its second day today. The three day event which started on Friday in Girne will end on Sunday February 11 in Lefkosa.

A total of 17 teams from 12 countries are taking part in this year’s international cycling tour held under the auspices of the TRNC Presidency and contributions from the Department of Sports which falls under the Prime Minister’s Office.

Cyclists will be riding a total of 380km during the three day race consisting of three separate stages.

According to information by Turkish Cypriot daily, BRTK, today’s event started at 11am in front of the Çatalköy Municipality in Girne and ended in front of the Girne Gate in Lefkoşa at 3pm.

The cyclists rode through Esentepe and Kaplıca on the northern coastline before crossing over the mountain to Büyükkonuk, İskele, the Salamis Ruins and Gazimağusa on the eastern coast.

The cyclists also rode westwards from Gazimağusa, through Aslanköy, Haspolat, Dikmen before reaching the finish line in Lefkoşa.

The winner of yesterday’s first stage was Jon Bozic, racing for the Slovenian team Adria Mobil and was followed in second place by Gasper Katrasnik from the same team. Christian Raileanu from Torku Şeker Spor came third.

The last and final stage of the race will be held on Sunday in the capital Lefkoşa and will be open to the public’s participation under the slogan ‘Velesbitini al da gel’ (Grab your bike and join us).
