Murder of Nigerian student in North Cyprus: NANS President joins other students in peaceful protest (Photos)

North Cyprus: There was protest today by Nigerian students in Lefkosa to register their grievances over the killing of Nigerians and other Africans in the country.

The protest which was attended by the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Turkish Zone, Comrade Evidence Akhyere, former NSU-CIU president, Comrade Ife-Oluwa Osho, Comrade Muhammad Awal and other notable student leaders marched peacefully around town carrying placards.

The students urged all universities in the country and necessary authorities to do all it can to protect the life of all African students in the TRNC.

The protest comes three days after a 28-year-old Nigerian, Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede, an Architecture student at the Eastern Mediterranean University in Magusa was kidnapped and beaten by 7 people.

The incident happened on Monday, January, 29. The deceased was taken to the Çanakkale lake where he was killed and dumped.

Following the incident, 6 out of the 7 suspects connected with the murder have been arrested and charged to court for murder, human abduction and serious assault.

There has been series of protests by Nigerians in country and on social media over the murder.
