Murder of Nigerian student: Court adjourns till Friday next week, issue arrest warrant for other suspects

North Cyprus: Six suspects arrested by the TRNC police for the murder of Nigerian student, Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede in Famagusta, North Cyprus on Tuesday were brought to court today. But the court adjourned sitting to next week Friday and ordered an arrest warrant for other suspects who are at large. 

Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede, 28, an Architecture student at the Eastern Mediterranean University in Magusa was kidnapped and beaten by 8 Turkish citizens including three girls on Monday, January, 29 and then taken to the Çanakkale lake where he was killed and dumped in the lake.

Following the incident, six suspects between the age of 16 and 22 has been arrested in connection with the murder and charged to court for murder, human abduction and serious assault.

The suspects arrested so far are Zekeriya, 22, who started the issue, Ozan Körkurt, 18, B.Ç, 16, Mahkeme Onur Korkurt, 21, Simge Dağdur ve, 18 and Aydan Sel, 28.

Some group of Nigerian students gathered in front of the court venue on Friday to protest the murder but were denied entrance into the court. They demanded justice for Kennedy.

The murder suspects were brought in and out of the court through for security reasons. 
 
Also the Nigerian Student Society president, EMU in an interview with iLite TV on Friday called on authorities to do all it takes to make sure that the culprits are exposed and brought to book. 

He advised all Nigerian students to beware of who they make friends with and urged them to concentrate on their studies.
