Man found dead in field while sheep grazing in Karpaz
A 44-year-old Turkish Cypriot man was on Monday found dead in the field at the village of Taşlıca in the Karpaz region of North Cyprus while sheep grazing.
The man identified as Veli Çelik, 44 was a sheep farmer in the small village of Taşlıc in Yenierenköy Municipality, Karpaz.
Police said they found his lifeless body in the Taşlıca region on Monday afternoon and according to information received, he may have died of heart attack while waiting for his sheep.
His body was taken to the Lefkosa State Hospital for autopsy.
According to a report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Veli Çelik, who left his home on Monday morning to graze the sheep, spoke on the phone with his wife at 12.00pm. Shortly after this, his wife called back but there was no response.
His wife, who understood that there was a problem, immediately went in search for her husband in the company of her friends.Veli Çelik was found dead by his wife and friends in Yıldız Tepe (Deraççes) region near Avtepe.
They tried to administer first aid by mouth to mouth resuscitation before emergency serviced arrived but despite all attempt Veli Çelik could not be revived.
His death caused great sadness in the Karpaz region, especially in his own village.
