#JusticeForKennedy - Suspects to remain in prison for another seven days

Seven suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Kennedy Taomwabwa Dede has been ordered to remain in detention for another seven days as their trial continues.

All seven suspects, Ozan Korkurt, 18, Zekeriya Founder, 22, Burcu Çelik, 16, Onur Körkurt, 21, Simge Dağdur, 28, Aydan Sel and Nidai Şanlı, 28 were all brought to a Famagusta court today under tight security measures after they were initially ordered to remain in police custody for a period of seven days.

According to Turkish Cypriot daily, Kibris, police said they carried out investigation on the cell phone of one of the suspects, Ozan Körkurt. According to the report, police detected 142 phone calls before, during and after the incident.

Police said they will also review deleted records on the mobile phone and for those belonging to other suspects.

The court judge ordered that the suspects remain in police custody for another seven days as investigation continues.

Kennedy was kidnapped by 7 people on Monday, January, 29 from his resident in Magusa and then taken to the Çanakkale lake in the outskirt of the city where he was seriously beaten and killed.

Following the incident, 7 suspects connected with the murder were arrested and charged to court for murder, human abduction and serious assault.

Before his untimely death, Kennedy was an Architecture student at the Eastern Mediterranean University in Magusa and has represented and won medals for the university in several sporting events.
