Judge handling attack on Afrika news paper receives death threat

The senior judge handling the attack case against Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika and the TRNC parliament, has been issued a death threat.

According to report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Kibris, Tacan Reynar, who was handling the case of six suspects arrested in connection with the attack is said to have received death threat.

Six people were arrested last week, following a violent attack on the news paper's office in Lefkosa and the TRNC house of parliament on Monday January 22.

According to Kibris, a reliable source revealed that senior Judge Tajan Reynar received a death threat on the day he sent the arrested suspects to prison and that he was being protected by police.

The source also noted that Judge Reynar was being guarded both at home and in the court by the police, and accompanied by a police escort from the house to the court.
