Four night clubs shut down in Lefkosa

The Lefkosa Turkish Municipality (LTM) has sealed four-night clubs in Lefkosa for not having an operating permit.

The four night clubs which were sealed simultaneously by the  LTM police team for lack of work permits are "Freedom, Fly, Crazy and Kings''.

The municipality also accused the night clubs of using girls as sex workers.

In a social media message by the president of Lefkosa Turkish Municipality, Mr Mehmet Harmancı he said;

As you know, a decision was made in 2016 stating that the nightclubs operating within the boundaries of the Lefkosa Turkish Municipality will not be renewed from 2017 onwards.
At the beginning of 2017, the nightclub filed a lawsuit against our party to stop this decision. We have stated that we will not have an intervention in the activities of the nightclubs until the court decides in the context of verbal commitments in order to bring the case to a close within a short period of time.
We had not made any significant progress since then, we said that our verbal commitment to the court was no longer valid.
As of today, the nightclubs operating within the borders of the Turkish Municipality of Lefkosa have been closed down by us.
Once more, I draw attention to the fact that within this period of time, the lawmaker has not moved on this issue and the fact that there is no legal basis for sex work has created this end. Our wishes and wishes are to ensure that the basic rights and freedoms of women who are forced to work / operate here are made as soon as possible by the definition of sex workers.
