Drunk passenger beat and injured taxi driver in Girne, North Cyprus

A drunk passenger has reportedly beaten a taxi driver because he did not take him to his destination in Girne on Saturday night.

According to report, the 51-year-old taxi driver's spine was broken due to the beat he received from the passenger only identified as CT, 39 and a Turkish athlete.

Police in a report said the incident happened at Tarsus Street, Girne at about 4:00pm on Saturday adding that the driver identified as Sahin Karacor was said to have entered an heated argument with the drunk passenger. The driver was hit in the face and various parts of his body.

The taxi driver was taken to the hospital Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for treatment while the passenger was taken into police custody and charged to court.
