Cyprus Talks: Group call on leaders to return to negotiating table, say no time to lose

The Unite Cyprus Now Platform has called on leaders of both sides of the divided Mediterranean island to return to the negotiations table and do everything they can to find a final solution to the Cyprus problem.

The group who celebrated the reelection of Nicos Anastasiades, as president of south Cyprus for a second term, stressed that the rapid change of the global and regional political picture undoubtedly has no time to be lost.

We are urging all parties to return to negotiations immediately in order to find a federal solution within the framework of Guterres, the group said in a statement it issued on Monday.

The group said it trust that the coalition formed in the north Cyprus last week will support Anastasiades and his Turkish Cypriot counterpart, Mr. Mustafa Akıncı, in their joint efforts to end the division of in the island.

It stated that the failure of talks in Crans-Montana last year, demonstrates that Cypriots must be assured in a unified Cyprus, the economy must be stable, everyone should be respected for their property rights, and reassurance must be made that a federal government can operate comfortably.

We are confident that all parties will be bound to work immediately to solve these problems. Let's not impose our brilliant future on your troubled past, it added.
