23 construction activities stopped in TRNC

23 construction activities in several parts of North Cyprus has been stopped following occupational health and safety concerns that has been a recurrent issue in the construction industry in recent times. 

In a just concluded review of the working conditions of several construction sites in the TRNC, 23 of the 33 sites inspected were suspended due to shortcomings found in terms of occupational health and safety.

According to a statement by the TRNC Labor Office, in order to prevent work accidents, 33 construction works were supervised, 16 in Lefkosa, 10 in Girne, 1 in Güzelyurt and 6 in Famagusta.  

Due to the shortcomings found in the "Occupational Health and Safety Regulations in Construction" and "Occupational Health and Safety Regulations", 12 sites in Lefkosa, 7 in Girne, 3 in Famagusta and 1 in Güzelyurt were closed down. 

3 in Lefkosa, 3 in Girne, 3 in Gazimagusa, were given warnings for measures to be taken under the relevant legislation.
