Tension in TRNC parliament during swearing in ceremony

There was tension at the TRNC Assembly on Monday when some of the newly elected deputies walked out of the hall during the swearing in ceremony.

50 newly elected deputies took oath of office in the Republican Assembly on Monday morning.

According to report, members of the UBP and YDP party reacted when CTP Lefkoşa deputy, Doğuş Derya was heading to the chair to take his oath of office.

An argument then ensue between both parties in the chamber. Deputy representing TDP party Hüseyin Anoglemli, who presided over the session in the capacity of the Provisional Assembly Speaker, then tried to clam the situation down by issuing constant warnings to the crowd.

UBP deputy Prime Minister Hussein Ozgurgün later took his oath of office while CTP and TDP deputies staged a walk out.

Meanwhile, in a related incident at the assembly, the group protesting against the African newspaper carried the action to the Parliament with one of the protesters planting a flag on the roof of the parliament.
 The police then calm the situation down and disperse the protesters.
