Egyptian student arrested for drugs

A 21-year-old Egyptian student has been arrested by the TRNC Narcotics teams for drugs offenses following an operation in Gönyeli.

Police said they found an Egyptian national, Omar Mostafa Mohamed Saabahallah Elnahas, in possession of 5 grams of Indian Hemp following a raid on his apartment in Gonyeli between the hours of 20.15-20.40 pm on Saturday.

He was arrested and the drugs seized by the police. 

Upon interrogation by the police, the suspect confessed to possessing a total of 14 grams of drugs in November and December of 2017.

He was arraigned at a Lefkosa court on Sunday where the court judge ordered that he remain in detention for three days for investigation purpose.

Police say they first received a tip off about the suspect on January 18.
