Chelsea sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal as Michy Batshuayi exits club while Tottenham sign Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain
The France international Giroud becomes the club's third signing of the window, joining midfielder Ross Barkley and left-back Emerson Palmieri at Stamford Bridge, and will wear the No. 18 shirt.
His deadline day transfer paved the way for striker Michy Batshuayi to join Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season, after BVB's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Arsenal earlier in the day for £56m.
Chelsea is one of the biggest teams in the Premier League. They have won maybe the most trophies in the last six or seven years. It's a massive club and I am proud to sign for Chelsea, and I'm looking forward to playing, Giroud told Chelsea's official website.
Giroud is the first player to transfer directly from Arsenal to Chelsea since Ashley Cole's controversial move across London in August 2006.
He was signed from Montpellier in the summer of 2012, for £12m and has scored 105 goals in 253 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, winning three FA Cups and three Community Shields.Welcome to Chelsea, @_OlivierGiroud_! 👍#GiroudIsBlue pic.twitter.com/rY1VRsgyYk— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) January 31, 2018
Meanwhile, cross town rival, Tottenham Hotspur have also completed the signing of winger Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €28 million.
The Brazil international signed a deal until 2023 at Spurs.
Lucas joined PSG for £33.5m from Sao Paulo in 2013 but has made just six substitute appearances this season following the summer signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.📸 Welcome to Spurs, @LucasMoura7! 🇧🇷#BemVindoLucas pic.twitter.com/xDdckxPbBr— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) January 31, 2018
The 25-year-old has scored 46 goals and added 50 assists in 229 appearances for PSG, winning 13 domestic trophies in France, including four league titles.
The winger has played 35 times for his country and won a silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012.
Lucas is not cup-tied for the Champions League, having not featured in the competition for PSG this season, but Spurs will have to remove a foreign player from the squad because they already have 17 registered.
